1970: August 26th– Jimi Hendrix makes his last live appearance in the UK at The Isle of Wight Festival. He will die of a drug overdose just three weeks later on September 18th
Also appearing at that year’s festival were The Who, The Doors, Chicago, Richie Havens, John Sebastian, Joan Baez, Ten Years After, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, The Moody Blues and Jethro Tull. Over 600,000 people attend what will be the largest rock festival of all time.
